In the years since he began working as Head Pro in 2008 and Executive Director in 2010, Kevin has made it his mission to expand Woods Tennis Center and serve the Lincoln community. Under his direction, the Woods Tennis Center expanded its wheelchair, Woods, and USTA leagues, partnered with Lincoln Parks & Rec to bring tennis lessons to City Rec Centers and CLCs, and significantly increased its junior tournament participation. Kevin is President of the Nebraska Tennis Association and previously chaired the Youth Pathway committee for the Missouri Valley Tennis Association. He has received numerous awards during his tenure at Woods, including the 10&Under Contributor award, the USTA/American Express Community Leadership Award, and named a Missouri Valley and Nebraska Contributor to Youth Tennis and Nebraska Community Service.
Before coming to Woods, Kevin coached high school tennis in Wisconsin for 14 years, producing nine Wisconsin team state championships, one state runner-up, 12 individual state champions and 53 first-team all-staters. He then co-founded the Koppa-Heim Tennis Academy in Wisconsin, where he helped develop a program that began with 60 juniors and grew to more than 600 adults and juniors in 8 years.
Talor began his career at the age of 14, working under national junior coaches at the Margaret Court Tennis Academy in Albury, Australia and majored in exercise science at the University of Wollongong, focusing on strength and conditioning in addition to anatomy, biomechanics and physiology. Using this knowledge, Talor created complete training programs for state and nationally ranked juniors at the International Tennis Federation in Fiji, one of only three ITF regional training centers across the world. After his tenure at ITF Fiji, Talor began working at Woods Tennis Center in 2010, and was named Head Pro shortly after his arrival due to his extraordinary positive impact for both individual players and the program as a whole. He has also been instrumental in expanding the community aspect of Woods (including the scholarship programs and Parks and Rec collaborations) making it his goal to position Woods as the “Oprah” of tennis; making tennis accessible and affordable to everyone, regardless of skill or income level. Talor is currently Chair of the Nebraska Tennis Association 10&Under Committee, and has received the Contributor to Youth High Performance Award, 10&Under Contributor Award, and Missouri Valley Award at the Nebraska Tennis Association annual awards.
Trey began playing tennis at Woods in 2008 and played under the instruction of Kevin and Talor throughout his high school career. He began working with the Parks & Rec program in the summer of 2012 and at Woods in the summer of 2013. Trey enrolled at the University of Nebraska in the fall of 2013 as a computer science major, but through his time on court found a passion for teaching. Trey is now an Elementary Education major and combines the lessons learned on court and lessons learned in class to create an engaging and entertaining learning environment for our ROGY classes. While Trey’s group work focuses on the younger age groups, he has an understanding of what it takes to be a successful player at all ages and levels.
